He is the evergreen superhero of Bangladeshi Film history, the one and only Salman Shah. He was born on 19 September 1971 in Zakiganj, Sylhet, Bangladesh.
He was the greatest and most popular actor in Bangladeshi cinema. But his real name was Chowdhury Muhammad Shahriar Emon. Salman Shah (সালমান শাহ in Bengali) was his stage name or on-screen name, and this name better knew him.
Salman Shah started his career with a one-episode TV serial, “Pathor Somoy.” He also appeared in some Television advertisements as a model. But his first significant role in a Bangladeshi movie was in “Keyamat Theke Keyamat,” which was released in March 1993 with co-actress Moushumi and directed by Sohanur Rahman Sohan. After his first movie, Salman Shah became the talk of the town.
In the early ’90s, this famous actor starred in many successful movies. Despite acting only in twenty-seven films in his lifetime, he earned immense popularity around the country with such a short number of films within a very short period. Early Life of Salman Shah
Salman Shah was born on September 19, 1971, in Zakiganj, Sylhet, Bangladesh. He was the son of Kamaruddin Chowdhury and Nila Chowdhury. He was the family’s eldest son, and his original name was Shahriar Chowdhury Emon. But he was famous in the showbiz industry as Salman Shah. His younger brother’s name is Chowdhury Mohammad Shahran Evan.
Salman Shah completed his primary education at Bayra Model High School, Khulna. Then, he came to Dhaka, was admitted to Arab Mission School at Dhanmondi, and completed SSC in 1987. Salman Shah completed HSC at Adamji Cantonment College and graduated with a degree from Maleka Science College, Dhanmondi.

His most iconic films were Keyamot theke Keyamot, Tumi Amar, Antore Antore, Sujon Shokhi etc. Bikkhobh, Prem Juddho, Denmohor, Konna Dan, and Shopner Thikana are some of his most notable works. Later in his career, he acted in films like Anjuman, Mohamilon, Asha Valobasha, and Priyojon.
In 1996, he worked on Shopner Prithibi, Shotter Mrittu Nei, Jibon Shongshar, and other films. The same year, the beloved actor suddenly passed away, leaving the entire nation in shock. His films Shopner Prithibi, Sotter Mrittu Nei, and Jibon Songshar also came out that year. He could not finish many of his works. His last film, “Buker Bhitor Agun,” was released posthumously. Actor Riaz had to take over his other film, “Mon Mane Na.”
With his charismatic presence, Salman Shah became a fashion icon for the youngsters of that era. Even two decades after his demise, he still reoccurs as an example when discussing 90’s fashionistas.

Salman Shah married Samira Haq on August 12, 1992. Samira Haq is the daughter of Shafiqul Haq, a former captain of the Bangladesh Cricket Team, and Losi, a Thai citizen. The couple had no children and lived together until Salman Shah’s death.
Death cause of Salman Shah
Salman Shah died on 6 September 1996. He was found hanging from the ceiling of his bedroom at Eskaton, Dhaka. Well, his death had a critical controversy. Police had filed a case of suicide, but his family objected to it and had lodged a murder case. Salman Shah was buried in Shah Jalal Dargah Cemetery in Sylhet.

“Salman Shah Smriti Parishad” (Salman Shah Memorial Council) arranges a yearly festival on his birth anniversary.
